Free Car Seat Safety Evaluations
We offer free, one-on-one car seat safety appointments for Mendocino County residents with children ages 0–12.
Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) provide:
- Personalized assistance installing car seats correctly.
- Education on car seat selection based on your child's age, weight, and height.
- Checks for recalls, visible damage, and expiration dates.
- Tips on transitioning to the next type of car seat.
- State laws and best practices for child passenger safety.
- Answers to your questions!

How to Prepare for Your Appointment
- Plan for a 60-minute session.
- Bring your car seat instruction manual and vehicle owner’s manual.
- Know your child’s current weight and height.
- Bring your child and, if possible, another caregiver to assist.
- Ensure the car seat area is clean and accessible.
