Medical Marijuana Identification Card

(MMIC)

Mendocino County administers the California Department of Public Health’s Medical Marijuana Program (MMP). Both medical marijuana users and their primary caregivers are eligible for a medical marijuana identification card (MMIC). State cards must be renewed annually.

In 2015, the Medical Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act (MCRSA) was enacted to amend prior laws for the licensure and regulation of medical marijuana. In November of 2016, CA voters approved Prop 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA), legalizing recreational marijuana use for those 21 years of age and older. In late June of 2017, SB 94 combined portions of both MCRSA and AUMA to streamline and resolve the differences between both Acts and created Marijuana Adult Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act.

SB 94 maintains the provisions of AUMA that, effective January 1, 2018, allows the tax-exempt sale of medicinal cannabis and products only if the buyer presents a valid state-issued medical marijuana ID card.

The application form for the Medical Marijuana Identification Card (MMIC) is available to down load here and at the receptionist’s window of our Ukiah Public Health office, located at 1120 South Dora Street. Ukiah, CA. 95482. The patient or caregiver can complete their portion, but physician documentation is required before the application can be submitted.
