Feral Cat Request

The Animal Shelter is limited in the services that we can provide regarding taking in feral cats.

"A feral cat or a stray cat is an unowned domestic cat that lives outdoors and avoids human contact: it does not allow itself to be handled or touched and usually remains hidden from humans."

Mendocino County is 3600 square miles which results in approximately 12,500 free roaming feral cats based on the UC Davis Outdoor Feral Cat Population calculator.

If you're needing assistance with a feral cat issue, we require all requesting citizens fill out the below request form. You will be placed on a waiting list.  Citizens are contacted in chronological order when we have available kennel space.

Please go to the below link to fill out the online request form.

Thank you.
