Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many counseling sessions do I receive?

A: All County employees and members of their household are eligible for up to 10 free counseling sessions, per issue, per 12-month period.

Q: How do the 10 sessions per incident/issue work, per 12-month period work?

A: For example, say you use EAP for work-related stress. If you use all 10 sessions in a 12-month period for work-related stress, but have another issue occur like a death in the family, or family/relationship issues, you will receive another set of 10 sessions for grief & loss, and another 10 sessions for family/relationship issues, and so on.

Q: What happens when I have exhausted all of my covered sessions?

A: If you would like to continue seeing the same local network provider for the same issue within a 12-month period, you will be seeing them in the course of their private practice. Your standard health insurance deductibles will apply.

Q: How do I find out if my provider is in the Magellan Network?

A: You can visit the Magellan website (link above). You may also call Magellan and they can tell you if a specific provider is in their network.

Q: What if I would like to change EAP providers?

A: You can switch to another local EAP provider at any time. You will need to call Magellan and receive authorization for the new provider before having a session.
