The Clerk of the Board (COB) is responsible for the official record of proceedings for the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors (BOS). This includes meeting records such as: Board Correspondence, Agendas, Minutes, Resolutions, Ordinances, Agreements, and any/all other executable records. Additionally, COB is responsible for the coordination of Standing Committees, the City Selection Committee, the Assessment Appeals Board, and Appointments to all Mendocino County Boards, Committees, and Commissions.
Standing Committees
Standing Committees are permanent, Brown Act Compliant, Committees comprised of two Members of the Board of Supervisors. The full Board of Supervisors makes referrals to the Standing Committees, the Committees meet to discuss the items, and return to the full Board of Supervisors with a recommendation on that referral. Standing Committee assignments are made at the beginning of the year by the Chair of the Board of Supervisors and are approved by the full Board at the Annual Organizational Meeting. City Selection Committee
The City Selection Committee (CSC) is a 4 Member Committee comprised of the Mayors of all four cities within Mendocino County (Ukiah, Willits, Fort Bragg, and Point Arena). The CSC typically meets 1-2 times annually for the purposing of making specific appointments to several entities, including the: Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo), Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC), Sonoma Clean Power Board of Directors, and Redevelopment/Successor Agency Oversight Board.

Assessment Appeals Board
The Assessment Appeals Board (AAB) conducts impartial hearings on property assessment disputes between taxpayers and the Mendocino County Assessor. Based on the evidence presented at these hearings, the appeals board determines the fair market value for the disputed property.

Boards and Commissions
The Clerk of the Board is tasked with processing all applications to all Mendocino County Boards, Commissions, and Committees. Additionally, COB staff notice all vacancies and place appointments on the Agenda once endorsed.
