How to use the CalTrans GIS maps
Click onto "Parcel Viewer."
Check the "I agree to the above terms and conditions" box on the lower left corner of the screen that pops up.
Click "OK' on the lower right hand side.
Click on the layer list icon on the upper right.
Click on the "Parcels _side_pub" drop down menu and ONLY turn on "Public Roads" then "Enable Pop UP."
This will allow you to zoom in on the map (using the plus sign icon on the upper left-hand side of the map) until the road names become visible.
At the bottom center of the screen click on the icon to see attributes.
The County Maintained Roads will have a CR # that corresponds to the list and under owner it will also say COUNTY (see example below). Attributes for other public roads will also show under this tab such as Forest Service, BLM etc. but such roads will not have a County Road number.
