The Public Health Advisory Board shall serve as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors, County Health Officer, and Director of Health Services on matters relating to local Public Health and will provide a structured mechanism for community members to advise the Public Health Department on the efforts to address public health issues affecting the community. The Public Health Advisory Board consists of 9 board member positions, as well as a representative from the Board of Supervisors, the County Health Officer, the Director of Health Services, and a County Public Health Employee.
The Public Health Advisory Board shall assist the Public Health Department with:
- Assessing the community’s health, including strengths and gaps
- Reviewing current and proposed health related legislation
- Recommending policies that improve health outcomes
- Encouraging and supporting the development of effective public health services
- Advocating for increased action to improve community health
