The Weights and Measures Division (W&M) is responsible for ensuring fairness in the market
place through accuracy of measuring/weighing devices. Devices are inspected annually at a minimum. The following devices are included in the annual inspections:

Retail petroleum fuel pumps
Liquid Propane dispenser meters
Grocery counter and hanging scales
Vehicle scales
Livestock scales
Taxi meters
Platform scales
Bulk fuel delivery trucks

If you believe a scale or meter is not performing correctly, please call our office to request that the device be tested.

Device Registration Ordinance

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING MENDOCINO COUNTY CODE CHAPTER 10A.16 – REGARDING DEVICE REGISTRATION AND INSPECTION FEES INCLUDING INCREASES TO CERTAIN FEES

This Ordinance amends Chapter 10A.16 of the Mendocino County Code to make certain changes to make the code better align with State law, and amends the fees to be charged for device registration to be the maximum amount authorized in Business and Professions Code section 12240, which will result in certain fees being increased. Certain pre-existing exemptions from fees are being modified as well. Chapter 10A.16 will also now include provisions for testing and re-inspection fees, which shall be the County Sealer’s hourly rate.
