Events and Programs for July 2022 

The Mendocino County Museum welcomes the public to join us for special programs and events during the month of July.

  • July 2, 1:00 – 3:00 pm: History Makers: Bear Tracks! - Join Mendocino County Museum staff during our new ongoing program: History Makers! The program will be held from 1-3 pm the first Saturday of every month and repeat weekly on Wednesdays. This month we will explore our current exhibit Bear in Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly and have a make and take animal track activity
  •  July 4, 12:00 – 4:00 pm: Museum Open for 4th of July – Celebrate July 4th and Willits Frontier Days with a visit to the Museum.
  • Every Wednesday 10:30 am: Stories in the Park with the Willits Branch Library - During the month of July, please join us and our friends from the Willits Branch Library every Wednesday at 10:30 am. We will be reading stories inspired by the Museum’s current exhibit Bear in Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly. Join the meeting via zoom: https://mendocinocounty.zoom.us/j/85969586920.

  • July 13, 5:30 pm via Zoom: MCM Book Group - Join us as we delve into this fascinating title: After the Grizzly by Peter S. Alagona. Our book club meetings begin and end with a round of Mendocino County literary and historic trivia!

  •  July 29, 5:00 – 7:00 pm: Community Bear Stories w/ guest Susan Snyder – Come on down and have a s’more and enjoy an evening of bear stories with guest storytellers, including the author of Bear in Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly Susan Snyder. At the close of the program, community members are invited to share their own bear tales, poems, or songs. Please limit time to 10 minutes per attendee.
  • July 30, 5:00 – 7:00 pm: Art Walk Evening Hours – Museum staff welcome the public to join us for Summer Art Walk – Downtown Willits. Our galleries and current exhibit, Bear in Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly, will be open for regular admission.
  • July 31, 12:00 – 4:00 pm: Last day of Bear in Mind: The Story of the California Grizzly Exhibit - This will be the last day to view the exhibit at the Mendocino County Museum. Fine out where to see the exhibit next by visiting https://exhibitenvoy.org/exhibits/.
